An update

Just to get up to speed, here is an update so far. 

New 2bbl carb.  Not sure what the problem was with the old one but I have so much clutter that I couldn't find space to do a rebuild so I just bought a new one.  Works great.  I need to get the dwell/tach out and idle it down a bit. 

Pertronix module and new ignition coil.  Dropped it in and started it up.  Couldn't be simpler. 

Oil and filter.  There was a problem with slow oil drainage down to the sump so they added an extra large sump to the 266 V8 and it takes 7 qts of oil with filter.  I'm going to start buying 2 gals at a time and I'll have a quart left over for topping up in between changes. 

The original little-round-mirror is mostly useless so I dug out a set of IH 'west coast' mirrors and installed them today.  HUGE improvement. 

New wheels 7" wide by 16" and new 215-85-16 tires. 

New clutch. 

Disconnected two of the three gas tanks.  The center tank appears to hold about 15 gals.  I got 14 mpg on a trip up north last weekend.  That was a mix of two-lane-blacktop at 55 mph and dirt-mud-gravel at 40 mph.  Pretty happy with that. 

FUTURE:
There are no fuses in this truck.  I have a fuse box which will be mounted on the hump (i think). 

I need to remove the radio, it doesn't work, and reuse that dash space for something. 

I'd like to install a rechargeable flashlight on the dash or the hump. 

Add LED aux lights on the front and a single aux light in back.  

Loops in the travel-top bolt holes. 

Dig out the travel top and see how bad it is. 

I have an Indian Blanket pattern seat cover that needs installed. 

I locked the hubs a couple days ago and it acts like the transfer case is locked in although the lever position show its out. 

I'm going to have the exhaust checked tomorrow morning.
